Adam Kelly was at his best on Friday
The recent Barrington High graduate and national champion captured the hammer throw at the prestigious Chicagoland Throws Series. Kelly uncorked a personal best of 243 feet, 1 inch to win the title by nearly 25-feet over the second-place finisher. Barrington's Mike Alvernaz was fifth with a toss of 199-05.
In the women's competition, Toll Gate's Courtney Jacobsen was just a few feet shy of her all-time best, placing seventh overall with a distance of 173-07. Narrgansett's Makeena Thomas was tenth at 157-06.
