MileSplit LIVE Event Preview: June 22-25

FloTrack has a stacked weekend of AAU matchups with some of the nation's next top talent. AAU participants have gone on to be NCAA champions, All-Americans, world champions, and Olympians. This weekend, you can catch live action from four different qualifiers, including the Region 9 Qualifier in Minneola, Florida; the Region 2 Qualifier in Galloway New Jersey; the Region 5 Qualifier in Gloucester Virginia; and the Region 3 Qualifier in Baltimore Maryland.

One name to watch this weekend in Florida will be Tamari Davis in the AAU Region 9 qualifier. At the AAU Junior Olympics last year, Davis won the 13-years-old girls 100m (11.97), anchored the 4x100m relay team to a 46.56, and won the 200m dash after running 24.37.

At the Region 2 Qualifier, we're going to be on the look out for the next future stars.

There are several top returning AAU studs to watch in Virginia this weekend. One of them is 9-year-old
Naye'Ron Hudson-Mcglown, who won the 8-year-old and under boys 400 and 800m titles at last year's AAU Junior Olympics. In the 800m, he ran a new national record time of 2:27.02. This weekend, he will be participating in the same two events.

In Maryland, we are on the lookout for 10-year-old Elise Cooper. In 2016, Cooper was a double winner in the 9-year-old girls 100m, running 13.57, and in the 200m, running 27.95. This year at her district meet, she won the 100m in a time of 13.65 and the 200m in 27.28. Another name to watch on the guys' side in the 15- to 16-year-old age group is I5Elite's Ashton Allen, who won the 400m dash finals in 49.54 and the 200m dash finals in 21.87 earlier this month at his district meet. At last year's Junior Olympics, he took home golds in the 14-year-old boys 200m dash (21.93) and 4x100m Relay (43.28).
