The class of the discus field is last year's 4A state runner-up, Jacoba Luteyn of Bishop Kelly. Luteyn has already surpassed her personal best in the discus with her throw of 138'06," and has the best throw in Idaho by almost 10 feet. Luteyn's previous personal best coming into 2022 was 135'09" at the district three 4A championships.

Luteyn comes in to the 2022 season with another personal best, having thrown 40'10" in a tri-meet back on March 11th and is the only girls shot putter to surpass the 40-foot barrier thus far. Coming in to the season, Luteyn flirted with the 40-foot barrier at last year's district 3 4A championships when she threw 39'07" en route to winning that title.

Sydney Searle of Burley comes in to 2022 after her 4A state runner-up finish last year at 5'02," but has a personal best jump of 5'05" to her resume. Searle has not yet competed in 2022 and the best 4A performance of 2022 belongs to Logan Roberts of Canyon Ridge at 5'00."

Last year's 4A state champion is back for more in 2022 after breaking a 19-year-old overall and class record with her vault of 12'08." Junior Tatum Richards of Emmett vaulted to a personal best last year of 12'10" and has since matched it indoors this year as she looks to clear the 13-foot barrier this season. Her 12'10" ranked her #1 in Idaho and T-67 in the nation last year. Like most vaulters, Richards is an exceptional athlete and also has a personal best of 15.72w in the 100-hurdles.


Girls Long Jump 4A

Only two, top 10 finishers graduated from this field, with last year's state runner-up Mattie Olson of Skyline headlining this group. Olson has a personal best of 17'03" in the long jump and has yet to compete this season. The best mark in the state for 4A currently belongs to Lizbeth Soto of Vallivue with her jump of 16'10.25" which is a personal best.

The top returner in the girls 4A triple jump is junior Krissie Sanders of Mountain home, last year's 4A state runner-up. An all-around talent, Sanders comes in with personal bests in the hurdles of 15.10 and 44.64 and was the 4A state runner-up in both hurdles last year, to go along with a 36'04.75" in the triple. Sanders has yet to compete in 2022 and the best triple jump in 4A belongs to Casidy Fried of Middleton.
