Preview: 2022 Idaho 2A Boys Cross Country State Meet
Soda Springs' Kaden Gentry is eyeing more than the team title, which looks to be in hand so long as the team shows up and does what they are capable of. With the graduation of Nampa Christian's Grady Mylander and Salmon's Daniel Simmons moving to Utah, the door is wide open. The top returning finishers from last year are North Fremont's Corbin and Zack Johnston, who finished third and fourth at last year's state championships. Gentry, who finished sixth last year, has the top time of the season going into Saturday, 15:53, just ahead of Corbin Johnston (15:56). Not to be overlooked is Kellog's Makai Peak who has gone 16:20 this season and is one of the more improved athletes this season.

Preview: 2022 Idaho 2A Girls Cross Country State Meet
The Soda Springs cross-country program would love to sweep the 2A state championships. The girls' program would especially like to avenge last year's runner-up finish behind Salmon's state title over Soda Springs, 62-66. The Cardinals will rely on safety in numbers if they look to hold off Ririe High School. Ririe will need a big race from their number five runner if they want to keep it close or even prevail. Soda Springs may not have a runner in the top 10 but will rely on their pack running whereas Ririe should have at least two, potentially three athletes in the top 10. Individually, last year's state champion, Cameron Moore (Ambrose School) comes in with the 3rd fastest time of the season, while Jessica Durran of Wendall, who finished seventh last year in this meet, has the fastest time of the season, 19:08 and has won her last two races.
TOP 5 TEAM PREDICTIONS:
1. Ririe High School
2. Soda Springs High School
3. Declo High School
4. Malad High School
5. Salmon High School
