The defending 1A state champions Victory Charter, led by the 'Brothers Stockett,' look to defend their title and should do so with ease. Last year's 1A state champion, the elder statesmen (Ian), has been on a tear all season, winning five of his eight races. He should repeat as state champion this season unless his brother Luke, who has the next fastest time in 1A, pulls the upset. These two Vipers have the only sub-16-minute efforts in 1A, with Ian matching his PR (15:21) and Luke doing the same (15:37). This should be a memorable race for the Stockett family regardless. With Victory Charter being the clear favorite, Grace High School claims rights to the runner-up finish.

Raft River? Logos? Much like last year's 1A state championship, this will be hotly contested between these two programs that saw Logos get the nod in 2021 over Raft River, 39-41. There will be a lot of familiar faces, including last year's state champion, Allie Black of Raft River. Last year, the top five finishers were all lower classmen. This should be a great race with eyes not just up front, but for the Logos number five runner, Cora Johnson. Raft and Logos both have similar front runners led by Allie Black (Raft River), Sara Casebolt (Logos), and Haven Campbell (Raft River). In dual meet scoring, Raft River has the edge over Logos, 27-28 based on the top 2022 times. If whomever the number five athlete for Logos on Saturday can stay within five positions or better of Raft's number five and everyone else runs true to form, Logos can pull the upset and retain their crown. That is a lot of "Ifs," anything can happen on race day. With those two teams out front, the battle for the third team spot will be between Victory Charter, Tri-Valley, Rockland, and Grace.
