The Brave Storm Invite hosted some of the top schools in the State of Idaho and a handful of the top athletes around. The conditions for this meet at times where windy but overall it made for a great day on the track and field. Hosting the Meet was the Boise Brave and The Owyhee Storm who hosted at Mountain View High School the home of this years Idaho High School Track and Field Championships.
The Mavericks of Mountain View High School In Meridian host this year State Competition on May 19-20th.
The First event of the of the Track was the girls 2k Steeplechase and it was a fun and exciting way to get the meet going. It was Owyhee High school runner Faith Johnson who won the first race of the day with a time of 7:36.58.
Next on the Track was the girls and boys 4x200 Relays with the Boise Brave girls and boys teams winning this event. The Lady Brave ran a time of 1:47.06 , the brave boys ran a time of 1:30.47.
The 1600m race included some of the states top distance runners on the girls side with Allie Bruce of Boise Taking the lead for the start running a time of 5:05.50 beating out Skyline of Idaho runner Nelah Robert and teammate Samantha Smith.
The boys 1600M was filled with new personal best all around with the eventual winner being Kaden Helder of Boise High School who ran a time of 4:25.60 In 2nd place was Owyhee High School runner Carter Burdick who was 4:26.60.
The top three finishers in the 100M Hurdles all ran personal best times leading the herd was Grave Lanfear with a time of 15.46 followed by Liv Mortensen running a time of 16.02 , Suzi Woodall ran a time of 16.75. Woodall also won the girls Pole vault clearing the bar at 11-09. Teammate Mia Nelson a Freshman clear 11-00 hitting a personal best for herself. Nelson's Older brother and State leader in the Pole vault Seth Nelson won the boys vault with a vault of 15-01 beating out Ethan Hammer from Columbia who went 14-07.
The boys 110 Hurdles came down to a photo finish with Boise High School Charlie Wells just beating out teammate Joseph Curtis the Brave teammates went 16.03 and 16.09 respectfully.
On the Sprints side we saw a match up of top sprints in the state going head to head with Clair Petersen of Skyline and Sophia Clark of Boise. Petersen dazzled with her performance as the senior out dueled Clark posted season best times of 12.26 in the 100M and 25.10 in the 200M this will the only time these two will match up as the are in different classifications.
Cooper Smith of Boise Takes home the 400M victory for Boise High School
