The 2026 IHSAA State Championships delivered historic performances, state records, and unforgettable battles across Idaho. Here are the moments and performances that defined championship weekend.
MileSplit Moment of the Meet
Sophomore Owen Gregory introduced himself to the national audience with his 5A 800m State victory, running the fastest time among sophomores in the nation this season at 1:50.93. Gregory dominated the race, posting splits of 54.46 and 56.47 while leading from start to finish. He also broke the 5A meet record, previously set by Idaho's greatest 800m runner, Nick Symonds, in 2002 at 1:53.92.

Performances to be Remembered
Jakobe Davis Completes The Perfect Season
Jakobe Davis capped his undefeated season by running 47.40 to win the IHSAA 5A 400m State title. The Vallivue senior did everything imaginable this season, including winning nine consecutive 400m races and breaking the Idaho state record at 47.03.
Annabelle Carr Nearly Misses the Hat Trick
The University of Oregon commit, Anabelle Carr, nearly completed the mid-distance three-peat in the 4A 400m, 800m, and 1600m. Carr dominated the 400m and 800m championships, securing her fourth consecutive IHSAA 4A 800m State title. However, she finished as the runner-up in the 1600m to her teammate, Helen Olyer, who beat her by one second.
Haille Heemyer and Audrey Orme Trade Wins
After Haile Heemyer and Audrey Orem ran U.S. top-10 times in the 1600m at the Nike Jesuit Twilight Relays, we were guaranteed to see epic 6A distance races. Their best battle came in the 800m, where Heemyer beat Orme by a mere second to win with a personal best of 2:10.30.
Lydia Townsend and Karlie Bair Break 14 Seconds
The girls' 4A 100m hurdles prelims produced two historic races by Lydia Townsend and Karlie Bair. First, Karlie Bair ran 13..86 (+3.2w) to break the all-conditions state record, and then Lydia Townsend ran 13.91 (+2.9w) to also go under the record. These show-stopping performances set up a great 100mH final, where Townsend again ran under 14 seconds, posting a personal record of 13.79 (+3.3w).
Mettea Nuhn Breaking the 100m Hurdles State Record
Over in Meridian, the 100m hurdles prelims were also on fire when Metteah Nuhn lined up for her race. The junior from Moscow High School ran 14.09 to break the Idaho State record with a legal wind of +1.1w. Nuhn came back in the 100m hurdles final to secure her 5A state title in the 100m hurdles.
Capital Girls Shatter the 4x100m State Record
The Capital High School girls dominated the 4x100m relay to break the state record and win the 6A State title. They ran 46.53 in the 4x100m, becoming the first girls' 4x1 team to dip under 47 seconds. Capital used this momentum to finish runner-up in the 6A team standings.
