2020 Winston Tilzey Invitational
Dear Coach
The 2020 Winston Tilzey Invitational will be hosted (Lord willing) by Nampa Christian High School on Wednesday, October 14th. Our hope is to have a fun and low-key meet that is both fast and spectator friendly.
Due to our current pandemic and uncertainties regarding park restrictions and/or safe race sizes, the number of teams allowed to attend this year will be limited. Not sure as to that number just yet. As of now, I have confirmed attendance to the 1A and 2A WIC teams, and hope (again, Lord willing) to confirm schools 3A size and smaller wishing to attend, should it be determined safe to do so. Please forgive the uncertainty.
Here's some important information regarding the meet:
Date: Wednesday, October 14th
Times: MS Girls - 3:45
MS Boys - 4:15
HS Girls - 4:45
HS Boys - 5:30
Place: West Park in Nampa
HS Entry Fee: $60 per school or $6 per runner
MS Entry Fee: $30 per school or $3 per runner
Registration Deadline: Tuesday, October 13th, 9:00 am
HS Awards: Medals through 10th
MS Awards: Medals through 10th
The 5K Course is an out and back with a couple of loops in it. It is very spectator friendly as 99% of the course can be seen from a few strategic locations. The terrain includes about 3600 meters of grass, 1360 meters of asphalt, and a pleasant 40 meters of bark. It is almost completely flat except for one "hill" where you gain a scary 6- feet of elevation in less than 15 meters. The 3K Course is similar, but includes a modified start and just one loop.
Bus drivers will probably have the easiest time parking along the south side of the park on Blaine Street, which is not a bad drop off spot either. There is also parking in the park from the entrance on Lone Star.
