Summer’s over and time to get back-to-school! For many student-athletes, they have already been back doing 2-a-day’s, and most cross country programs are no different. September brings us Cross Country… and with last year’s class of a Freshman, Sophomore’s and Junior’s winning State –watch out as this year is going to be competitive!! We are talking about;
5A – Boys: Dwain Stucker, Meridian, Class of 2015
4A – Boys: Elijah Armstrong, Pocatello, Class of 2015
5A – Girls: Emily Hamlin, Class of 2015
4A – Girls: Rachel McGovern, Class of 2016
3A – Olivia Redd, Sugar-Salem, Class of 2014
2A – Sierra Manzer, Melba, Class of 2015
TOP 5 Girls in the State
Emily Hamlin – Boise, 5A
1st Place at last year’s XC State Final, and also had the 2nd fasted time throughout the year with an 18:09.40. Emily finished well in outdoor running mid-distance events (800 & 1600).
Sierra Manzer – Melba, 2A
1st Place at last year’s XC State Finals, Gatorade XC runner of the year, and 3rd fastest time throughout the year with an 18:12.30. Coming back as a Junior, if Sierra stays focused she could post the fastest time of the year!
Josie Brown – Coeur D’Alene, 5A
2nd Place at last year’s XC State Finals. Josie had a solid outdoor season finishing the 3200 with a PR of 11:25.30 at the State Finals.
Rachel McGovern – Pocatello, 4A
1st Place at last year’s XC State Finals. She was a freshman last year.. so keep an eye on her for years to come!
Mikayla Malaspina – Vallivue, 5A
Mikayla is always consistent, finished 3rd in last year’s XC State Finals. She finished 2nd at the State Track Finals with a solid time of 11:00.55.
