Cross country is most certainly a team sport but you cannot take the individual aspect out of it. Sometimes in fact the individual storyline can be even more compelling than the team one outside of the state meet.
This weekend, on the historic Burke Lake 2.98 Mile course we will see 34 teams vying for the title. Amongst those teams are favorites for the 5A and 6A state titles. Check out the virtual meet rankings as well as the full lists on the following pages.

This season could be another one for the record books. Making their strong return to the top spot this year is Loudoun Valley.
This tough course was not an issue for these star athletes. Leading the way the entire way was Allison Fick who successfully defended her 2017 title.

Led by Carlos Shultz the Vikings of Loudoun Valley won both the individual and team title Saturday at the Great Meadow Invitational.
Stealing the show this year was Kelsey Chmiel of Saratoga Springs (NY) who won in a course and meet record 16:44.
This weekend on the hilly, non-state, course at Great Meadow in The Plains we are going to be treated with a stellar invitational featuring over 30 different teams from three different states.
